Insurance for warehouses and third-party logistics.

Warehouse legal liability for goods you store, cargo for goods you haul, property, workers’ comp for forklift crews, and a close read of the bailee terms in your customers’ contracts.

A few quick questions, then we send you your price. Many trades get it in minutes.

What warehouses and 3PLs usually carry

  • Warehouse legal liability
  • General liability, $1M / $2M
  • Motor truck cargo, if you haul
  • Property and racking
  • Workers’ comp
  • Errors and omissions for fulfillment
  • Umbrella

Watch for these in a warehouse policy

  • Legal liability, not the goodsWarehouse legal liability pays when you are liable for loss or damage, up to the terms in your warehouse receipt or contract. It does not insure the goods themselves.
  • Cargo is a separate policyGoods on your trucks fall under motor truck cargo, not warehouse coverage. A 3PL that stores and hauls usually needs both.
  • Contract termsMany 3PL contracts strike the standard liability limits and make you liable for full value, sometimes even without fault. A legal liability policy may not follow what you signed.
  • Unexplained shortagesStock that is simply missing at count, with no theft or event behind it, is often excluded. Cycle counts and clean records help.
  • Fulfillment errorsShipping the wrong item or the wrong quantity is an errors and omissions claim. Legal liability covers damage to goods, not mistakes in orders.

What shippers and brands ask warehouses and 3PLs for

  • Legal liability limitShippers ask for a limit that matches the most you hold for them at one time.
  • Loss payeeBrands may ask to be named as loss payee for their goods.
  • Additional insuredOn general liability, for claims at your facility.
  • Waiver of subrogationCommon in 3PL agreements, often in both directions.

Questions warehouses and 3PLs ask

Straight answers.

The questions we hear most, answered plainly.

Does warehouse legal liability cover goods on my trucks?

No. It covers goods stored in your building. Goods on a truck need motor truck cargo, and both usually pay only when you are legally liable for the loss.

Should I sign a contract that makes me liable for full value?

Only if your insurance can back it. Send us the contract first, and we will point out the terms your policy will not cover before you sign.

How is warehouse insurance priced?

Legal liability is usually priced on storage revenue or the values you hold. Property depends on your building, sprinklers, racking, and what you store.

How fast can I get a certificate?

Once your policy is bound, you request certificates from your client login, with the wording your contract asks for.

Can I pay monthly?

Yes. Most policies can be paid in full or monthly.
