A few quick questions, then we send you your price. Many trades get it in minutes.

What cosmetics makers usually carry

  • Products liability, $1M / $2M
  • Product recall
  • Property and inventory
  • Business income
  • Cyber, for online sales
  • Umbrella

Watch for these in a cosmetics policy

  • Ingredient exclusionsMany products policies now exclude talc, and some exclude other named ingredients. Read the exclusions against your formulas before you buy.
  • Contract labsIf a lab makes your product, the claim still lands on your brand. Ask to be named on the lab’s policy and keep its certificate current.
  • Label claimsCalling a product hypoallergenic, clean, or dermatologist tested can bring false advertising suits, and products liability usually does not cover them.
  • ContaminationBacteria in a water-based formula can reach thousands of customers before you know. Products liability excludes the recall, so it needs its own coverage.

What beauty retailers and marketplaces ask cosmetics makers for

  • Vendor endorsementBeauty retailers ask to be named as a vendor on your products coverage, often at a set limit.
  • IndemnityRetail agreements ask you to defend the store over claims about your product. We check that your policy backs it.
  • UmbrellaLarger chains may require $2M to $5M on top.
  • Recall coverageSome chains write it into the supplier agreement.

Questions cosmetics makers ask

Straight answers.

The questions we hear most, answered plainly.

Do I need products liability if a lab makes my products?

Yes. Your brand is on the label, so claims come to you first. The lab’s policy may help, but only if it names you and has limits left.

Are allergic reactions to my products covered?

Usually, under products liability. Keep ingredient lists, stability and patch test records, and complaint logs, since they are what defends the claim.

How is cosmetics insurance priced?

Usually on sales, the products you make, where they sell, whether any are for children or the eye area, and your claims.

How fast can I get a certificate?

Once your policy is bound, you request certificates from your client login, with the wording your contract asks for.

Can I pay monthly?

Yes. Most policies can be paid in full or monthly.
