Insurance for manufacturers.

Products liability, property for your plant and materials, equipment breakdown, workers’ comp, and the vendor endorsements retailers ask for, for small and midsize manufacturers.

A few quick questions, then we send you your price. Many trades get it in minutes.

What manufacturers usually carry

  • General liability with products, $1M / $2M
  • Product recall
  • Property and inventory
  • Business income
  • Equipment breakdown
  • Workers’ comp
  • Umbrella

Watch for these in a manufacturer’s policy

  • Recall is separateGeneral liability excludes the cost of pulling your product back from customers and shelves. Product recall is its own policy.
  • A single supplierIf one supplier makes a part you cannot buy elsewhere, a fire at their plant stops yours. Contingent business income covers that lost income.
  • Raw material limitsA property limit set before a large material buy can leave you short. Report values when they climb, or use a reporting form that follows them.
  • Sales abroadMany policies cover injuries anywhere but only suits brought in the US or Canada. If you sell overseas, ask about worldwide products coverage.

What retailers and distributors ask manufacturers for

  • Vendor endorsementRetailers ask to be added as vendors on your products coverage, so a suit against them over your product comes to your policy.
  • Products limitsLarge retailers often require $1M per occurrence and $2M products aggregate, plus an umbrella.
  • Recall coverageSome buyers write proof of recall coverage into the supplier agreement.
  • Primary coverageRetailers want your policy to answer before theirs for claims about your product.

Questions manufacturers ask

Straight answers.

The questions we hear most, answered plainly.

Does my manufacturing policy cover a product recall?

No. General liability excludes the cost of recalling your products, even when the recall prevents injuries. Product recall insurance is written separately.

What is a vendor endorsement?

It extends your products coverage to the stores that sell what you make. Many retailers will not stock a product without one, and many set the limits.

How is manufacturer insurance priced?

Products liability is usually priced on sales and on what you make and where it goes. Workers’ comp is priced on payroll by class, adjusted by your experience mod.

How fast can I get a certificate?

Once your policy is bound, you request certificates from your client login, with the wording your contract asks for.

Can I pay monthly?

Yes. Most policies can be paid in full or monthly.
