Insurance for massage therapists.

Professional and general liability for solo therapists, mobile practices, and massage studios. Coverage that goes with you to a client’s home, a room you rent in a spa, or a table at an event.

A few quick questions, then we send you your price. Many trades get it in minutes.

What massage therapists usually carry

  • Professional liability
  • General liability
  • Products liability for oils and lotions
  • Licensing board defense
  • Abuse and molestation coverage
  • Table and equipment coverage
  • Workers’ comp, if you have staff

Watch for these in a massage therapy policy

  • Misconduct allegationsHands-on work draws these claims, true or not. Many policies exclude them or cap defense at a low sublimit, so read that line before you buy.
  • Where you workSome policies cover a single studio address. If you work in homes, hotels, or at events, confirm the policy follows you there.
  • Hot stones and cuppingBurns and bruising from hot stones, cupping, and heated tables come up often. Some policies leave out any technique you did not list.
  • Room rentersA studio policy covers your employees, not therapists who rent a room from you. Ask each renter for a certificate naming your studio.

What spas, gyms, and landlords ask massage therapists for

  • Additional insuredSpas, gyms, and offices where you rent a room want to be named on your general liability.
  • Minimum limitsMost hosts ask for $1M per claim and $2M or $3M aggregate.
  • Your own policyHosts rarely extend their coverage to independent therapists, so they ask to see yours before your first client.
  • Event certificatesRaces and corporate wellness days want a certificate for the day you set up a table.

Questions massage therapists ask

Straight answers.

The questions we hear most, answered plainly.

Do I need my own insurance if I work at a spa?

If you rent a room or work as a contractor, yes. As an employee, the spa’s policy may cover you; ask to see that in writing.

Does my policy cover massage in a client’s home?

Most massage policies cover you wherever you practice, including homes and events. Your auto policy, not this one, answers for the drive there.

Are the oils and lotions I sell covered?

Products liability answers if a client reacts to something you sold. Many massage policies include it, but check whether it reaches products sold under your own label.

How fast can I get a certificate?

Once your policy is bound, you request certificates from your client login, with the wording your contract asks for.

Can I pay monthly?

Yes. Most policies can be paid in full or monthly.
