Watch for these in a martial arts school policy
- Contact levelLight-contact classes and full-contact fighting rate very differently. Many policies exclude MMA bouts, boxing matches, or full-contact sparring unless they are listed.
- Waivers for minorsA parent’s signature on a waiver often does not stop a child’s own claim. Carry coverage as if the waiver may not hold.
- Abuse and molestationMany martial arts policies exclude it or cap it low unless it is added. Carriers usually want background checks and two adults present for kids’ classes.
- After-school pickupDriving students from school to the dojo is auto exposure. A school van needs commercial auto, and staff cars need hired and non-owned auto.
- Hosting tournamentsA tournament brings spectators and outside competitors. Many policies need the event added, with its own limit.

Questions martial arts schools ask
Straight answers.
The questions we hear most, answered plainly.
What does participant accident coverage do?
It pays a student’s medical bills after an injury in class, whoever is at fault, usually after their own health insurance. It keeps many small injuries from becoming lawsuits.
Is my school covered when we travel to a tournament?
General liability usually follows your school’s activities. Check that accident coverage also applies away from the dojo, and how students get there.
Do assistant instructors need their own policy?
Employed and volunteer assistants are usually covered under the school’s policy. Instructors who rent mat time to run their own classes need their own.
How fast can I get a certificate?
Once your policy is bound, you request certificates from your client login, with the wording your contract asks for.
Can I pay monthly?
Yes. Most policies can be paid in full or monthly.
