Insurance for pizzerias and pizza delivery.

General liability, hired and non-owned auto for delivery drivers, property, and workers’ comp for pizzerias, with the oven, fryer, and hood details carriers ask about.

A few quick questions, then we send you your price. Many trades get it in minutes.

What pizzerias usually carry

  • General liability, $1M / $2M
  • Hired and non-owned auto
  • Property and ovens
  • Workers’ comp
  • Business income
  • Liquor liability, if you serve
  • Crime

Watch for these in a pizzeria policy

  • Drivers in their own carsHired and non-owned auto protects the pizzeria when a driver in their own car causes a crash. It does not cover the driver’s own liability or damage to their car.
  • Drivers’ personal policiesMany personal auto policies exclude delivering for pay. Ask each driver for proof of coverage that allows delivery, and keep it on file.
  • Wood and coal ovensSolid-fuel ovens need hood and chimney cleaning far more often, commonly monthly, and some carriers will not write them at all.
  • Driver rulesCarriers often set a minimum age for delivery drivers and expect a driving record check every year. Hiring outside those rules can leave a gap.
  • Cash on the roadDrivers carrying cash get robbed. Money away from the store is covered only up to a small sublimit on most small business policies.

What landlords and franchisors ask pizzerias for

  • Additional insuredYour landlord, and your franchisor if you run a franchise.
  • Non-owned auto limitFranchise agreements often require $1M in hired and non-owned auto.
  • Waiver of subrogationLeases often ask for it on property and general liability.
  • Driver recordsFranchisors may require a written driving record check for every driver.

Questions pizzerias ask

Straight answers.

The questions we hear most, answered plainly.

How is pizzeria insurance priced?

General liability is rated on sales, hired and non-owned auto on how many drivers you have, and property on your ovens and build-out. Solid-fuel ovens and fryers push it up.

Do I need commercial auto if drivers use their own cars?

Not a full commercial auto policy, but you do need hired and non-owned auto. A car the pizzeria owns needs commercial auto.

What if we use delivery apps instead of our own drivers?

App drivers work as the app’s contractors, so crashes on those orders mostly fall to the app and the driver. Food safety and packaging claims still come back to you.

How fast can I get a certificate?

Once your policy is bound, you request certificates from your client login, with the wording your contract asks for.

Can I pay monthly?

Yes. Most policies can be paid in full or monthly.
