Insurance for photographers.

An equipment floater for cameras, lenses, and lighting, general liability for venues, and professional liability for missed shots and lost files, for photo and video pros.

A few quick questions, then we send you your price. Many trades get it in minutes.

What photographers usually carry

  • General liability, $1M / $2M
  • Camera and equipment floater
  • Professional liability
  • Rented equipment
  • Drone liability, if you fly
  • Studio property

Watch for these in a photography policy

  • Gear left in the carMany equipment floaters limit or exclude theft from an unattended vehicle. Know the rule before a camera bag stays in the trunk during dinner.
  • DronesGeneral liability usually excludes aircraft, and drones count. Aerial work needs its own drone liability policy.
  • Lost or corrupted filesA card that fails at a wedding is a professional liability claim, not general liability. The day cannot be reshot.
  • Rented and borrowed gearLenses and lights you rent are not your equipment. Check that your floater covers rented gear, and at what limit.
  • Releases and musicUsing a face without a release or a song without a license brings privacy and copyright claims. Many policies limit these, so ask what yours covers.

What venues and event planners ask photographers for

  • Additional insuredVenues want to be named for the date of the event.
  • Liability limitsMost venues ask for $1M per occurrence, and some for $2M.
  • Certificate ahead of timeMany venues will not let a vendor load in without one on file.
  • Primary and noncontributorySome venues want your policy to pay before theirs.

Questions photographers ask

Straight answers.

The questions we hear most, answered plainly.

Does camera insurance cover gear stolen at a shoot?

An equipment floater usually does, on location and in transit. Check its rules for unattended vehicles and for travel outside the country.

Do I need professional liability if I have general liability?

If clients pay you for results, yes. General liability covers a guest tripping over your light stand, not a couple suing because you missed the ceremony.

How is photography insurance priced?

Usually on the value of your gear, your revenue, the kind of work you shoot, and whether you fly drones or rent a studio.

How fast can I get a certificate?

Once your policy is bound, you request certificates from your client login, with the wording your contract asks for.

Can I pay monthly?

Yes. Most policies can be paid in full or monthly.
