Insurance for event planners.

General liability, professional liability for booking mistakes and vendor no-shows, and liquor liability, for wedding, corporate, and social event planners.

A few quick questions, then we send you your price. Many trades get it in minutes.

What event planners usually carry

  • General liability, $1M / $2M
  • Professional liability
  • Host liquor liability
  • Hired and non-owned auto
  • Equipment and decor
  • Umbrella

Watch for these in an event planning policy

  • Cancellation is a separate policyYour liability policy does not pay when an event is canceled. Event cancellation insurance is bought for one event, usually by the host.
  • Vendor no-showsWhen the caterer or the band does not show, the client may blame you. Professional liability answers that claim; general liability does not.
  • Who serves the alcoholIf you buy or pour the alcohol, host liquor coverage may not be enough. Have a licensed caterer or bar serve it and name you on their liquor liability.
  • Vendors without insuranceAn uninsured vendor leaves the claim with you. Collect a certificate from every vendor, naming you and the venue.
  • Damage to the venueA hall damaged during setup or by guests may fall under a low limit for rented premises. Check that limit before you sign the venue contract.

What venues and corporate clients ask event planners for

  • Additional insuredVenues ask to be named for the event date, often with the owner and the management company.
  • Liquor liabilityMany venues require it whenever alcohol is served, from whoever serves it.
  • IndemnityCorporate contracts often ask you to defend the client. We check that your policy covers what you agree to.
  • Professional liabilityCorporate clients may ask for it on larger conferences and trips.

Questions event planners ask

Straight answers.

The questions we hear most, answered plainly.

Should my wedding clients buy their own event insurance?

Often, yes. A one-day policy covers the couple’s liability, and event cancellation covers their deposits. Your policy covers your business and your mistakes.

What does a planner’s professional liability cover?

Claims that your advice or arrangements cost a client money: a double-booked venue, a missed vendor deadline, a contract term you overlooked.

How is event planning insurance priced?

Usually on revenue, the number and size of events you run, whether alcohol is served, and your claims.

How fast can I get a certificate?

Once your policy is bound, you request certificates from your client login, with the wording your contract asks for.

Can I pay monthly?

Yes. Most policies can be paid in full or monthly.
