Insurance for clothing boutiques.

Property, general liability, and crime coverage for clothing and accessory boutiques, including stock you take to pop-ups and pieces you sell under your own label.

A few quick questions, then we send you your price. Many trades get it in minutes.

What boutiques usually carry

  • General liability, $1M / $2M
  • Inventory and fixtures
  • Stock away from the store
  • Crime
  • Business income
  • Cyber
  • Workers’ comp

Watch for these in a boutique policy

  • Stock at pop-upsInventory away from your store is often covered only up to a small off-premises limit. Trunk shows and weekend markets need a limit of their own.
  • Your own labelPut your label on a garment and you can be treated as its maker. A skin reaction to a dye becomes your products claim to answer.
  • Jewelry and watchesStandard property forms often cap theft of jewelry and watches at a few thousand dollars. Boutiques with a real accessories case need more.
  • Photos and modelsUsing a photo or a model’s image without permission is a common claim for boutiques that sell online. General liability covers some advertising claims, but not all.

What landlords and pop-up markets ask boutiques for

  • Additional insuredYour landlord or mall, on general liability.
  • Pop-up certificatesMarkets and shared retail spaces ask to be named for the dates you sell there.
  • Waiver of subrogationCommon in mall and shopping center leases.
  • Tenant improvementsLeases often require your build-out insured at full replacement cost.

Questions boutiques ask

Straight answers.

The questions we hear most, answered plainly.

How is boutique insurance priced?

Mostly on sales and the value of your stock and fixtures. Jewelry, online sales, and pop-up events add to it.

Do I need products liability if I only resell other brands?

It comes with your general liability, and it matters. Stores get named in product suits, and a brand with no US presence can leave you as the only one to sue.

Does my store policy cover my online shop?

Liability for what you sell online is usually covered if your policy lists online sales. A hacked checkout page is not; that takes cyber coverage.

How fast can I get a certificate?

Once your policy is bound, you request certificates from your client login, with the wording your contract asks for.

Can I pay monthly?

Yes. Most policies can be paid in full or monthly.
