A few quick questions, then we send you your price. Many trades get it in minutes.

What staffing agencies usually carry

  • Workers’ comp, including temporary workers
  • General liability
  • Employment practices liability
  • Staffing professional liability
  • Crime, including client property
  • Hired and non-owned auto
  • Umbrella

Watch for these in a staffing agency’s policy

  • Jobs your policy will not takeA policy written for office staffing may exclude placing workers in warehouses, construction, or driving jobs. Tell us every job you fill.
  • Class codes at auditComp is rated on payroll by the job each worker does. A warehouse placement reported under a clerical code gets moved at audit, and you owe the difference.
  • Theft from your clientsStandard employee theft coverage protects your own property, not a client’s at the client’s site. Covering a temp who steals from a client takes client property coverage.
  • Harassment claims from both sidesTemps accuse client staff, and client staff accuse temps. EPLI needs third-party coverage and wording written for workers you place with clients.
  • Negligent placementA client says you placed someone you should have screened out. General liability may not answer a financial loss; staffing professional liability is built for it.

What client companies ask staffing agencies for

  • Alternate employer endorsementWC 00 03 01, naming the client, so your comp answers if a temp hurt at the client’s site sues the client as employer.
  • Waiver of subrogationOn workers’ comp and general liability, so your carrier cannot pursue the client after paying a claim.
  • Additional insuredOn general liability, for claims arising from what your workers do at the client’s site.
  • Contract indemnityClients write indemnity for anything your workers do. Make sure it matches what your policies cover, or you carry the gap.

Questions staffing agencies ask

Straight answers.

The questions we hear most, answered plainly.

Who covers a temp’s workplace injury, us or the client?

Usually you, as the employer of record. Your comp pays the claim, and the alternate employer endorsement protects the client if the worker sues them too.

How is workers’ comp for a staffing agency priced?

On payroll, by the job code of each placement, adjusted for your claims history. Light industrial codes rate far higher than clerical ones.

Are temps who drive for a client covered?

Often not under your policies. Many staffing programs exclude driving jobs, so settle in the contract whose auto policy covers the worker.

How fast can I get a certificate?

Once your policy is bound, you request certificates from your client login, with the wording your contract asks for.
