Watch for these in a gutter policy
- When gutters become roofingGutter guards tucked under shingles, fascia replacement, or any roof repair can push you into a roofing class, which many gutter policies exclude.
- Story limitsSome gutter policies limit work to one or two stories. A three-story house or a commercial building may be outside the policy.
- Downspouts at the foundationDownspouts that dump water against the house can lead to basement and foundation claims later. That is completed operations, and it is why careful installers carry every downspout away from the wall.
- The gutter machineA seamless gutter machine rides in your trailer or truck bed. It needs its own equipment coverage, since auto insurance covers only the vehicle.
- Gutter cleaningIf you also clean gutters, list it. Cleaning is sometimes rated as a maintenance class and may not be included on an installer’s policy.
